The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that it has been chosen as one of three Chambers to receive the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s Inclusive Growth Awards at their AGM on October 14, 2023.

The Canadian Chamber’s Inclusive Growth Awards recognize chambers of commerce, boards of trade, and business members who have implemented successful initiatives to advance economic reconciliation, diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility in their organizations and business operations. These awards also recognize underrepresented entrepreneurs who have demonstrated excellence in innovation and social impact.

This recognition is a testament to The Winnipeg Chamber’s unwavering commitment to advancing reconciliation and supporting the local business community in adopting impactful diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategies.

In selecting The Winnipeg Chamber, a panel of judges noted they were deeply impressed by various Winnipeg Chamber initiatives, with a special focus on CODE (Commitment to Opportunity, Diversity and Equity).

CODE seeks to empower the business community to achieve three critical goals:

  1. Expand awareness of the opportunities for and benefits of greater diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
  2. Increase the number of organizations in Winnipeg making a commitment to enhance inclusion and equity in their workplace.
  3. Increase the implementation of measurable actions in the workplace that further these goals.

“Receiving the Inclusive Growth Award from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce is a tremendous honour. We are committed to working collaboratively with our members, our community and local businesses to create a more inclusive and equitable future for all. This recognition affirms our dedication to these important goals and motivates us to expand our efforts.” – Loren Remillard, President and CEO of The Winnipeg Chamber.

“Accepting the Inclusive Growth Award is a testament to the shared success achieved through CODE, reflecting our dedication to reconciliation and equity. I’m immensely proud to be part of a transformative movement in Winnipeg, where businesses and the community collaborate wholeheartedly on our profound responsibility to create a more inclusive and prosperous future.” – Sanjana Vijayann, Diversity & Inclusion Director of The Winnipeg Chamber
