This year at our annual State of the Province Address on December 2, The Chamber is partnering with United Way Winnipeg to collect pairs of socks. We are asking attendees to bring pairs of socks to donate at registration. Donations will be going to local service agencies serving people who are experiencing houselessness.
The Chamber will gladly accept donations of socks for people of all ages and all genders. Socks should be new and provide warmth, such as a wool material. This time of year, there is always a huge need for socks. Main Street Project shares:
“Many of the folks we see at Main Street Project (MSP) spend a lot of time on their feet, often walking several hours a day in ill-fitting shoes and they often don’t have access to a shower to clean their feet with the opportunity to change into clean dry socks. We want to do everything we can to help keep these folks healthy over the coming winter months by being able to provide clean dry socks.”
The Winnipeg Chamber is a proud supporter of United Way of Winnipeg and always urges our business community to help. After all, it’s what Winnipeggers do best.
Please bring pairs of new socks to this year’s State of the Province Address on Thursday, December 2.
