Quick Poll: Tell us how we are doing

Sharing in the Spirit of Winnipeg

February 23, 2021

The Spirit of Winnipeg Awards is one of our business community’s most highly anticipated events —and it’s all about honouring local organizations making a difference.

This past year has been a year of growth and innovation for our community, which is why we believe this year is more important than ever to highlight Winnipeg’s incredible businesses.

Winnipeg female entrepreneur, Carla Coyle, President and CEO of C2 Custom Furnishings, won last year’s Rising Star Award for her company line, GoodKnight Beds– a bed bug control system.

The Rising Star Award recognizes the efforts of start-up businesses or organizations in their first or second year of business that are already making Winnipeg a better place to live, work, and play.

Carla was nominated to apply for the award.

“Some of our clients told us about the Spirit of Winnipeg Awards and suggested we should apply– so we did,” said Carla.

“Now we want to encourage other businesses to apply. Every business is worthy of the opportunity. The connections you will make are so valuable.”

2020 Spirit Award Recipients

Carla and her team are proud members of The Chamber and have seen the value in the opportunities that arise from their membership connections. Specifically, being a finalist and award recipient at the Spirit of Winnipeg Awards last year.

“Winning the Rising Star Award has directly impacted our business in so many ways. It opened up dialogue for potential new partnerships,” said Carla.

“Siloam Mission was at the event last year and was sitting at a table with one of our clients. Following the event, Siloam reached out to us to hear more about our product and how it could be used in their shelters. Fast forward to the present day and we are finishing up a project with them in one of their new buildings.”

Having those connections and building a buzz around your business is just one of the benefits associated with The Spirit of Winnipeg Awards.

All spirit finalists receive:

  • Recognition as a top business in your sector
  • Media coverage
  • Free 1-minute corporate video
  • Invaluable networking opportunities
  • One memorable night to celebrate your team’s success

“The community aspect of these awards and The Chamber, in general, have immensely impacted our business in a positive way. It helps build a business,” said Carla. “All of our experiences with The Chamber have been positive. We were recommended to The Chamber and now we are recommending other people. It has come full circle.”

This year’s Spirit Awards will be held virtually on May 27th from 7pm-8:30pm and will be free for the public to join us in celebrating our Winnipeg business community.

We are encouraging all Winnipeg businesses to apply for this year’s awards. DEADLINE TO APPLY IS MARCH 4.
