This seminar will share best practices for creating an inclusive environment for newcomers. We will also share the positive outcomes from hiring newcomers and addressing bias that may come up during the hiring process.

Sarah Giesbrecht, Manager of Human Resources, Birchwood Automotive Group

Sarah Giesbrecht, Manager of Human Resources of Birchwood Automotive Group, leads the HR Administration & recruitment services teams. She guides, coaches and mentors her staff and managers, answering their questions, building their confidence, helping them overcome obstacles, and form better working relationships with one another

 

 

Marjan Hakimi, Recruitment Advisor, Birchwood Automotive Group

Marjan is one of two Recruitment Advisors at Birchwood Automotive Group. She is responsible for representing the Birchwood brand, recruiting top talent, and coaching managers through the hiring process. Marjan first started with Birchwood as a Collision Consultant later growing into her Recruitment role in the Human Resources team. With 10 years of customer service and over 4 years in the non-profit sector, those experiences allowed Marjan to see the value in relationship building and the importance of HR.

 

 

Kristen Friess, Recruitment Advisor, Birchwood Automotive Group

As a Recruitment Advisor at Birchwood Automotive Group Kristen is responsible for full cycle recruitment for all talent acquisition needs. She is responsible for coaching managers through the hiring process, interviewing and assessing candidates, and representing Birchwood at professional networking events. Kristen holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, Human Resource Diploma, and Certificate in Management from the University of Winnipeg, and is a CPHR candidate.

With over 13 years in the hospitality industry Kristen knew pursuing a career in HR would be a natural fit. With a passion for people, Kristen thrives on getting people excited about opportunities that can change their lives for the better.

Outside of work Kristen enjoys relaxing in the sunshine with her friends and family.
