This installment of At The Table brings you face-to-face with political expert, Canadian politician and former Premier of Manitoba Gary Doer. Gary will shed light on how the new United States Presidency could impact our nation, potential challenges for businesses at the local and national level, plus answer questions from our Chamber community.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Gary Doer is a prominent Canadian politician, policy figure and volunteer, who served as the 20th Premier of Manitoba from 1999 to 2009, during which time he won three consecutive elections. Doer was appointed Canada’s Ambassador to the United States, a position he held from 2009 to 2016. During his time in Washington, he played a key role in fostering Canada-US relations and entering Canada into the Trans-Pacific-Partnership.
Since his ambassadorship, Gary continues to serve in influential roles, including as co-chair of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington D.C., where he contributes to discussions on North American policy issues. He also serves as a member of the Advisory Board of the Canadian American Business Council, which focuses on strengthening our economic ties.
In the corporate sector, Gary sits on the board of major Canadian institutions including Canada Life, Power Corporation, and IGM Financial. His experience in public service and private business continues to make him a key contributor in Canadian and international affairs.
Gary was named one of Business Week’s top 20 international leaders on climate change, earned the World Affairs Council’s distinguished diplomatic service award, and in 2024, accepted the Duff Roblin Award for his significant influence on education in Manitoba.
