Rod Giesbrecht, Co-Founder and CEO of Imaginet, shares how a Chamber membership brings his business value and how the Rapid Test Program helped keep his business operating safely.
Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce (WCC): Tell us about your business.
Rod Giesbrecht (RG): Imaginet services companies that are looking to capitalize on their investment in software. Innovation has been the promise of tech for many years. Not all companies feel they are getting the most out of their tech investments. Imaginet delivers services and expertise in three main areas:
- The day-to-day core work of a company by optimizing document management and workflow management through Microsoft 365
- Back-end data engineering with front-end visualizations bringing key business metrics to everyday operations
- Custom building specific business solutions for today’s web/mobile workforce. We work with companies looking to improve their business opportunities through software investment which translates to global Fortune 100 companies and smaller mid-market companies all with the same goal of continuous improvement and using software to help them get there faster.
WCC: You were one of the businesses that benefited from the Rapid Testing Program we facilitated through the Province of Manitoba. How did this program help your business?.
RG: I personally think it was a fantastic idea for The Chamber to distribute the rapid test kits. We passed the tests out to staff who were looking for quick confirmation that they did or did not have Covid. We have confirmed both Covid positive and negative tests which have directly contributed to people choosing the correct action needed based on the result.
I personally feel the tests should be used to help curb the spread of Covid. The results are available immediately and a person can adjust their actions to avoid others instead of waiting for 5 days and possibly not waiting until the results are back. The key really is to make them available to whoever needs them. Everyone in the province needs them, businesses and residents – how they are distributed, who cares as long as they are out there. Let’s work at finding more ways to get them out there but this was a great way! Thank-you to the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce staff for initiating this program.
Please note: We are working with the Manitoba Government to relaunch the rapid test program shortly.

WCC: Other than rapid tests, how has The Chamber helped your business throughout the pandemic?
RG: Throughout the continually changing and challenging times of the pandemic, The Chamber has kept the needs of small business owners in front of government officials helping them to formulate temporary directives and incentives to keep the public safe and the economy moving forward. We are thankful to The Chamber for representing us.
WCC: Why did you join The Chamber?
RG: We have been a member of the Winnipeg Chamber for over 20 years. It was one of the first things we did as a way of joining a group that had a larger voice than a single small business. The Chamber has been able to represent the needs of an economically important group of businesses that, alone, may have been unheard.
At the end of the day, it’s all about your business. You want to see your business succeed and grow and that’s why we’re here.
Providing a platform to help local businesses in Winnipeg thrive is what we stand for – whether it’s advocating for you, connecting you with the right people at the right time or setting you up with the support and programs you need to grow.
