ABOUT THE CHAMBER SESSIONS PROGRAM

1. What is ‘The Chamber Sessions’?

From getting advice to handle a roadblock or how to level-up, The Chamber Sessions are your opportunity to talk with a specialized professional about your business.

Created by The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce and Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan, this temporary program offers free three-hour sessions for small to medium sized business owners to have a one-on-one working session with a local professional business mentor.

Consultations are available in the following seven focus areas:

    • Finance
    • Growth Strategy
    • Human Resources
    • Legal
    • Marketing
    • Supply Chain
    • Technology

Sessions are limited and will run from January to March 2022 or until sessions last.

2. As a small business, why should I apply for this program?

We know these past two years have been hard – and as a Chamber community, we are constantly looking for innovative ways to support you and your team during your most difficult times.

The Sessions program was created to rally together subject-matter leaders who were passionate about supporting their local small business community. This free program offered in the new year, will allow you and your team to pause, slow down and be strategic.

Together, let’s talk it out. This is your chance to bounce an idea off someone who’s been through it. The Sessions program will allow you to run through new ideas, strategies and scenarios one-on-one with a Business Mentor. This program was made for small and medium sized businesses – and it will be up to you what focus area you wish to get support on.

3. Does my business qualify for The Sessions program?

Any Winnipeg business will be qualified to apply for The Sessions program. But keep in mind, our program was designed specifically with businesses with 1 to 150 employees in mind.

As a Chamber membership benefit, Winnipeg Chamber members will have first rights to the program. Following two weeks, all Winnipeg businesses will be invited to apply. Please note: there are limited sessions for this program and a Chamber Session will not be guaranteed.

4. Can I have more than one session?

The sessions we are offering are in-depth one-on-one conversations with your Business Mentor focused on your specific needs. Because of that, each business is limited to one session, so we can support more of our members through this program.

5. How do I sign up?

To register your one-on-one session with a local business mentor, all you have to do is fill out the application form here.

In the form, we will ask you to pick three of your top focus areas from:

    • Finance
    • Growth Strategy
    • Human Resources
    • Legal
    • Marketing
    • Supply Chain
    • Technology

Depending on the demand, we will try our hardest to ensure you are matched with a mentor in one of your three focus areas. Please note: A Chamber Session is not guaranteed due to limited sessions in each category.

6. Is there a cost to apply for this program?

No. These one-on-one sessions are offered at no cost by The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce and Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan.

With the impacts of the pandemic still creating challenges for our members and small business community, The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce and the Chambers Group Insurance Plan are rallying key industry leaders in our business community.

I’VE SIGNED UP, NOW WHAT?

1. When will my one-on-one session be?

Once we match you with your assigned Business Mentor, your Mentor will reach out to you via email or phone with a few dates and time options to meet. All one-on-one sessions for Intake 1 will start to take place late January and end by the end of March 2022.

2. Will our session be in-person or virtual?

It can be virtual or in-person. This will be a decision made between you and your Business Mentor.

3. What exactly happens during our session?

These one-time sessions will be custom to what needs you identified in your application form. These sessions can be anywhere from one hour to three hours, depending on the challenges you want to talk through. Your Business Mentor is there to act as a sounding board, because sometimes you do just need to talk it out – and our hope is that you and your team talking it out with someone who is specialized and well-experienced in your challenged focus area will help you identify more potential solutions.

4. Do I have to do anything after the one-on-one session?

The only thing you’ll need to do post-workshop is to complete a short 5-minute survey. This survey will give us important insight about how we can better support you and your business. Anyone who fills out our post-session survey will be entered to win a $100 Good Local gift card.

And who knows, depending on the survey results, this may lead to us offering this program again to local businesses in the future.

5. What do I have to do when I have to reschedule or cancel?

We understand things happen. To reschedule or cancel your one-on-one session you will need to contact your professional consultant assigned to your business.
