Michael Legary, Startup Winnipeg
Michael Legary is Chairman of Startup Winnipeg, an entrepreneur-led non-profit organization focused on removing barriers to innovation and supporting entrepreneurial startups across Canada. Startup Winnipeg includes AssentWorks, a work workshop dedicated to providing hands-on access to fabrication and prototyping equipment to community members; and Ramp Up Manitoba which provides support and economic opportunities to entrepreneurs focused on start-up businesses.
In his role Michael provides mentorship for startups and has helped secure seed financing and investment while building strong relationships with industry partners and government to create new programs that support innovation. Michael has focused much of his career on information security architecture and has founded, lead and sold several IT, security and defence research companies over the past twenty years. He is the recipient of CBC Manitoba’s Future 40 award which recognizes the province’s top leaders, builders and change-makers under 40.
