The Forks at 25 years – Looking Back and Moving Forward in Downtown Winnipeg
Keynote speaker: Jim August, Former Chief Executive Officer, The Forks North Portage
The Forks is now 25 years old. What was once an abandoned rail yard is now the city’s most visited tourist destination. Jim August will take you through the early years of development and the evolution of the site as The Meeting Place. In his 14 years as CEO, he was a visionary who shaped The Forks we enjoy today and was instrumental in laying the groundwork for the future. Prior to becoming CEO of The Forks North Portage Partnership, Jim was the head of the Core Area Initiative as well as private consultant working on downtown projects. He will also discuss his views on the evolution of our downtown.
