Journey of Hope Walk

Saturday, September 24, 2016
This event starts at The Forks Canopy Plaza.
12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

The Journey of Hope Walk is both a major fundraiser for the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society (MSS) and a public awareness event all wrapped into one.

This year, our walk celebrates its silver anniversary; 25 years of doing the walk of life. Mental Health is everyone’s health and mental illness is like a dark cloud in life that ultimately touches everyone in society. We, the MSS, are a silver lining of assistance. We stand for social justice and against stigma. We help those of mental illness situation, regardless of their level of illness, as well as their children, families, and the communities of Winnipeg and Manitoba as a whole. Each year, we help approximately 20,000 Manitobans and all MSS services are free to the public.

Please join us in gathering pledges before the walk and then, on event day, take a three km walk with us from the Forks Canopy Plaza to the Manitoba Legislature and back again on Broadway. This walk will be under the auspices of a parade permit and thereby Winnipeg Police Service assistance and coordination.

Joining us will be Ace Burpee of Virgin 103.1 FM’s Ace Burpee Show (ABS); Robert Falcon Oulette, Member of Parliament for Winnipeg Centre; James Beddome, Manitoba Green Party leader and the Hon. Kelvin Goertzen, Minister of Health, Seniors and Active Living.

This event is family friendly and we will have entertainment, food, prizes, a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, face painting and mascots.

Contact Katrina at 204-786-1616 or [email protected] for details and to pre-register. Registration is $10.
