Every year JCI Winnipeg hosts an Effective Speaking training workshop in preparation for their annual Effective Speaking Competition (June 5). The winner goes on to compete in the regional competition, with the possibility of competing at Nationals, the Conference of the Americas and then the World Congress!
Past president Natasha Fisher of JCI Winnipeg recently competed in Columbia for the conference at the Americas where she won, and then represented us on the World stage in Germany in 2014!
Katrina Hueging our current President is heading to Uruguay this year to compete at the conference of the Americas on behalf of Canada, if she wins that, she is onto the Worlds which are held this fall in Quebec City (a Canadian city for the first time since 1983!).
The training workshop is for all skill levels and is a safe place to perfect your public speaking abilities. You are not required to compete in the competition, many people attend this workshop to build confidence or assist in their professional development.
