NEWS RELEASE
15 FINALISTS ANNOUNCED
FOR SPIRIT OF WINNIPEG AWARDS
Innovation and Entrepreneurship Awards to be presented March 4
Feb. 4, 2011 – To take a concept or idea and do things differently takes guts, but Winnipeg can be proud of the many businesses and organizations that are doing just that, says Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Dave Angus, who today announced the 2011 finalists for its Spirit of Winnipeg Awards.
“Innovation and entrepreneurship truly define our city, and we want to celebrate the innovative business practices that we see each and every day,” Angus said.
On March 4, The Chamber, together with BDO and Marketplace Magazine, will announce the five award recipients at a gala dinner at the Fairmont Winnipeg.
BDO Senior Vice-President of Corporate Finance Priti Mehta-Shah, who recognized the finalists before more than 1,000 Winnipeggers at the Mayor’s State of the City Address, said this year’s eight judges had some tough decisions to make because there’s great innovation happening in Winnipeg.
“It comes in many different forms. It’s not just about inventions, but about better approaches and practices that contribute to the vibrancy of our businesses and our city,” Mehta-Shah said.
Congratulations to the finalists:
