WINNIPEG CHAMBER ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH CANADIAN ISLAMIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Thursday, May 20, 2010 - The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that they have entered into a partnership with the Canadian Islamic Chamber of Commerce in an effort to create a stronger relationship and understanding of the Islamic business community.
“We believe in creating partnerships that will be beneficial to the local business community,” said Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Dave Angus. “This agreement provides our membership with access and involvement to a community that is currently not well represented in our membership.”
The Canadian Islamic Chamber of Commerce (CICC) is a federally incorporated not-for-profit organization that was formally established in 2007 with the goal of forming a unified Muslim business networking organization in Canada. The chamber consists of various regional chapters all unified by one national umbrella organization. The head office is in Winnipeg.
“This partnership provides our organization with a tremendous opportunity to grow and to access a larger network of business in Winnipeg,” said CICC Winnipeg President Louay Alghoul. “In addition it will allow us to create greater awareness of the importance and strengths of the Islamic business community.”
The Canadian Islamic Chamber of Commerce (CICC) is a not-for-profit organization started with the goal of uniting and networking Muslim businesses. History has shown that it is the businesses and professionals that drive the growth and development of most young communities. We hope to contribute to the betterment of Canada’s Muslim community, as well as the greater Canadian community at large with some of the relevant and well thought out projects spear-headed by CICC.
The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, founded in 1873, is the leading organization representing the voice of business in Winnipeg. Our mission is to foster an environment in which Winnipeg business can prosper.
