CHAMBER TO GET INTO THE OLYMPIC SPIRIT AT NEXT MEMBERSHIP LUNCHEON
World Champion Curler Jill Officer to Deliver Keynote Address
Feb. 17, 2010 – As Canada hosts the world in Vancouver, The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce is taking this opportunity to celebrate the achievements of Winnipeg's elite athletes and cheer on Team Canada to success at our next Membership Luncheon taking place tomorrow at Fort Garry Place, sponsored by RBC Royal Bank and AVW-TELAV.
CKY sports anchor Leah Hextall will emcee the luncheon and will interview live from Vancouver three-time Olympic speed skating medalist Susan Auch, Olympic gold and silver hockey medalist Jennifer Botterill and the parents of Team Canada Olympic hockey player Jonathan Toews.
In addition, our keynote speaker for the luncheon will be Jill Officer, fresh off winning another Canadian curling champion, who'll talk about what it takes to compete at an international level.
Luncheon attendees are urged to come out and show their true colours by wearing red and white or check out current Olympic fashions, available for purchase, courtesy of HBC. Attendees will also have the chance to test their sporting abilities in a game of Wii against Jared Funk, silver and bronze medalist in wheelchair rugby at the Paralympic Games; have their photo taken with the Olympic torch, all while watching Team Canada’s Kevin Martin curl live on the big screen.
