“Volunteering with Selling Winnipeg to the World was a win-win-win. I got to do something I believe in and it opened up new networking and hiring opportunities."

12 WINNIPEG COMPANIES NAMED FINALISTS

FOR INAUGURAL SPIRIT OF WINNIPEG AWARDS

Awards to be handed out March 5th Recognize Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Jan. 26, 2010 – The quality of entries for the inaugural Spirit of Winnipeg Awards made

it no easy task to select 12 finalists from among 49 applicants, Winnipeg Chamber of

Commerce President and CEO Dave Angus said today as the finalists were announced at the

State of the City Address today at the Winnipeg Convention Centre.

“But we’re not complaining – it’s a good problem to have, especially since this is the first

time the awards have been held,” Angus said, adding innovation and entrepreneurship help

define our city, and the awards recognize local businesses and not-for-profit organizations

that best exemplify those traits.

On March 5, The Chamber, together with BDO and Marketplace Magazine, will announce

the award recipients in each of four categories at a gala dinner at the Fairmont Winnipeg.

Congratulations go to the finalists:
